  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup shredded romaine lettuce

  • 0.5 cup queso fresco, crumbled
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes or until the onion is softened and translucent.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a spatula to break the meat into small pieces, cooking it until browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Remove from heat once seasoned.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the tostada shells on a baking sheet in a single layer and warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until they are crispy and lightly toasted.
