In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook while breaking it apart, then add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the beef is fully cooked and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let simmer for about 5 minutes on low heat.
Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the beef mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve hot, garnished with parsley or chives. Pairs well with a green salad.
