Ingredients
3
cups
all-purpose flour
1
tablespoon
sugar
1
tablespoon
baking powder
1
teaspoon
salt
1
cup
soda (such as club soda or sparkling water)
1
cup
shredded cheese (cheddar or preferred variety)
0.5
cup
chopped fresh herbs (parsley, chives, and dill)
0.25
cup
melted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter.
In a large mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until combined.
Incorporate the shredded cheese and chopped fresh herbs into the flour mixture. Stir gently.
Gradually add the soda while stirring. Stop mixing when the ingredients come together; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the batter.
Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Slice while warm and serve with butter and fresh herbs for garnish.
